Issue theme: Art in the Age of the Technocene

The first issue of the journal Dispozitiv is dedicated to the challenges and potentials that technology poses for contemporary society; that is, it seeks to problematize the role that technological development plays in the understanding, shaping, and transformation of our reality and environment, and in the redefinition of social behaviours, aesthetics, worldviews, ways of living, and the making of art. The theme of this issue, Art in the Age of the Technocene, focuses on the concept of the technocene, which emerged from the notion of the Anthropocene and was introduced into the literature to foster a better understanding of the interrelationship between art and contemporary society in an era of pronounced technological progress.
